Sussex County Council won't meet this week. The county lists no Council meeting for Tuesday, Nov. 3, Election Day. The listing doesn't give a reason.

The Board of Adjustment's 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, meeting in Georgetown is cancelled. The Planning & Zoning Commission has no meeting that week on the county's November meeting calendar or its commission agendas page.

County government offices close Tuesday, Nov. 3, for Election Day and Thursday, Nov. 5, for Return Day, the county said in a news release.

When Council returns

Council's next meeting is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in Council Chambers at the Sussex County Administrative Office Building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. As of Saturday, Oct. 31, the meeting page showed no agenda. Agendas and packets post on the Council agendas page.

Later in November

Still pending

Three October items remain open before Council:

  • Council voted 5-0 on Oct. 20 to defer action on Conditional Use 2652, a 52.34-acre solar array on Old Racetrack Road filed by Sussex CSG3 LLC. The applicant asked to change some Planning & Zoning conditions, including a timber noise barrier and privacy screening, according to the Oct. 20 minutes.
  • Two conditional use ordinances were introduced Oct. 20: a 10.63-acre contractor vehicle storage and maintenance yard filed by Preston & Mason Dyer, and a 0.944-acre auto repair shop filed by Marc Aurel Jean. The minutes don't list hearing dates.
  • The Oct. 27 agenda listed possible introduction of an ordinance authorizing up to $4,892,000 in general obligation bonds for the Joy Beach Phase 2 Septic Elimination Project. Minutes from that meeting aren't posted yet.

How to weigh in

The Planning & Zoning Commission takes public comment at its hearings, by mail to the Planning & Zoning Office, P.O. Box 417, Georgetown, DE 19947, or through an online form, according to the commission's page.
