Last day to register if you are not yet registered and want to vote in the primary. Uniformed and overseas citizens who are not yet registered must register by August 31.

Early voting opens

September 2–5, 7 a.m.–7 p.m. No early voting September 6–7 (Labor Day). September 8, 7 a.m.–7 p.m. September 9–13, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.

Primary Election Day

Polls 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. Last day to request a mailed absentee ballot: Friday, September 11.

Closed primary

Only Democrats vote in the Democratic primary. Only Republicans in the Republican.

AVR (DMV auto-registered) voters who have not already chosen a party may designate Democratic or Republican through Primary Day. The state says 2026 is the last election with that AVR exception.
