Election Day in Sussex County: Polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday
Where to vote, what to bring, when absentee ballots are due and which contests appear on Sussex County ballots Nov. 3.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, for Delaware's general election, according to the state Department of Elections.
Early voting ends Sunday, Nov. 1, with sites open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The department posts the list of voting locations.
Find your polling place
On Election Day you must vote at your assigned polling place, the department says. Look it up on the Voter Portal, on the state's polling place lookup map or on your Polling Place Card. If you show up at the wrong place, poll workers will try to send you to the right one, according to the department's voting FAQ.
What to bring
Delaware doesn't require a photo ID to vote in state and federal elections, the FAQ says. You'll be asked for one form of ID, such as a Delaware driver's license or state ID, or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document showing your name and address. If you don't have ID, election officers will verify your registration and you can vote after completing an Affidavit of Affirmation of Voter Identity, the department says.
Provisional ballots
If poll workers can't confirm you're eligible, they'll offer a provisional ballot, which the department calls a "last chance ballot" required by federal law. It won't count if you cast it in the wrong election district or leave the affidavit incomplete, according to the FAQ.
Absentee ballots
The deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot was Friday, Oct. 30. The department lists noon Monday, Nov. 2, as its deadline to issue absentee ballots.
Completed ballots must reach your county elections office by 8 p.m. Election Day. You can't return them at polling places or early voting sites, the department says. In Sussex County, mail or hand-deliver your ballot to the Department of Elections office at 119 N. Race St., Georgetown. The department's directory lists weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the phone number (302) 856-5367.
Results
Unofficial results will post on the department's 2026 general election results page.
