Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The Sussex Ledger checked official town, county and state calendars as of Oct. 31 for Veterans Day events. We'll add events as organizers post them.

Rehoboth Beach: VFW ceremony at the Bandstand

The VFW holds its annual Veterans Day ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand, 1 Rehoboth Ave., according to the City of Rehoboth Beach calendar. The city lists it as a ceremony honoring local veterans and their families.

Georgetown: free Pre-Veterans Day Luncheon

A Pre-Veterans Day Luncheon runs from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 7, at 40 Ingramtown Road in Georgetown. The Delaware Office of Veterans Services listing describes "a special ceremony and FREE gourmet meal to honor veterans and friends." To reserve a seat, call 302-856-4551 and leave a message.

Millsboro: state veterans cemetery

As of Oct. 31, the state's veterans events calendar listed no Veterans Day ceremony at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. We'll update this story if one is added.

Statewide ceremonies

Two state-listed ceremonies take place upstate on Nov. 11.

From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., the DDVA/DCVA Veterans Day Ceremony is at War Memorial Plaza by the Delaware Memorial Bridge, 163 Cherry Lane, New Castle.

From 2 to 4 p.m., "Veterans Day Ceremony: Honoring 250 Years of Service" is at Kent County Veterans Memorial Park in Dover. The Kent County Vietnam Veterans organization hosts, and Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Karen A. Berry, Delaware's first secretary of veterans affairs, gives the keynote.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, the Dover Veterans Day Parade & Festival fills downtown Dover. It's free, open to the public and held rain or shine.

Town halls closed

Town and county offices close for the holiday. Calendars for Lewes, Bethany Beach, Millville and Sussex County government all show offices closed Nov. 11. None of those calendars listed a public ceremony as of Oct. 31.
